Chief Operating Officer (Paoli) Department: Administration Schedule: Full Time Shift: Hours: Hours per week: 40 Salary: Salaried Job Details: * Job Summary Serves as Chief Nurse Executive and reports to and assists the Chief Executive Officer with the primary responsibility for day-to-day nursing operations of the hospital. Provides leadership, direction and administration of all aspects of hospital activities to ensure compliance with established objectives and the realization of quality, economical health care services. Promotes the philosophical purpose as developed by the Board of Directors and the Chief Executive Officer. Must be able to recognize problems and make appropriate correction, and to consult the Chief Executive Officer or other appropriate individual to help resolve problems as indicated. Minimum Educational Requirements B.S.N or Baccalaureate in Nursing. Master''s degree in Nursing, Hospital Administration, MBA or equivalent degree is desired. Minimum Experience Requirements Minimum of 7 years of progressively more responsible management experience in a healthcare setting is required. The interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact in extremely delicate, sensitive, and/or complex situations with patients, community members, medical staff, employees, representatives of regulatory agencies and so forth. Ability to make effective presentations before groups. An extremely high level of problem solving skills in order to organize, plan, and direct the work of the organization, develop long-range plans and deal with situations for which there may be little or no precedent. Advanced knowledge of Indiana State Department of Health regulations. Advanced knowledge of the Standards of The Joint Commission. Proven ability to handle confidential information. A very high level of problem solving skills in order to analyze and deal with situations for which there may be little or no precedent. Ability to properly prioritize work assignments, multi-task and work well under pressure with tight deadlines. Excellent written communication skills to compose memos, letters, or reports in a clear concise fashion with appropriate grammar, vocabulary, and word usage.
